The HCC cricket team, which forms part of Hockey- en Cricketclub Heerlen (HCC), was re-established in 2003 by a number of enthusiastic lovers of the game in South Limburg and neighbouring regions of Germany and Belgium.
From 2003 to 2006, HCC played four highly successful seasons in the Dutch league. Starting out with just one team in 2003, due to the keen level interest of interest in the region, the club expanded to two teams in 2004. For two seasons in succession, the First XI enjoyed promotion and achieved Dutch 2nd division standard. Since 2007, for practical reasons, we have been playing in the Belgian national league.
As well as Dutch,
Belgian and German cricketers, HCC has a distinctly international flavour, with players from as far a field as
England, India, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, the West Indies and Afghanistan. The club aims
to attract more male and female members, young and old, from the Limburg and Euregio areas for the current season.
We value enthusiasm and commitment above ability, though the latter is certainly a bonus.
Heerlen is conveniently placed for anybody living near or in the Euregio cities of Maastricht, Aachen and Liège.
